Test quality

Summary

  • Jest test suite exists for Ember+ provider and TSL UMD sender only.
  • Tests start real network listeners (TCP/UDP), which fail in restricted environments.
  • No tests for HyperDeck, vMix, CasparCG client logic, or WebSocket server behavior.

Findings

TQ-001: Tests rely on real socket binding

  • Severity: MEDIUM
  • Evidence: server/__tests__/emberplus-provider.test.js:13-27 starts Ember+ provider; server/__tests__/tsl-umd-sender.test.js:23-35 calls sender.start().
  • Impact: Tests are not hermetic; fail in environments without socket permissions (observed in BASELINE).
  • Recommendation: Use mocks/stubs for network I/O and isolate protocol logic from sockets for unit tests.

TQ-002: Core protocol clients lack tests

  • Severity: MEDIUM
  • Evidence: Only two test files exist in server/__tests__/ (Ember+ and TSL). No tests for hyperdeck-client.js, vmix-client.js, or osc-casparcg.js.
  • Impact: Parsing and reconnection logic is unverified, increasing regression risk.
  • Recommendation: Add unit tests with fixture data for each protocol client.

Tests are limited to Ember+ and TSL; they are not hermetic due to real socket binds.
